Cheddar Gorge is Britain’s biggest gorge from the dramatic cliffs rising 450ft to the stunning stalactite caverns. This world famous site is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and reveals many fascinating stories of our prehistoric ancestors and is an International Centre for caving and rock climbing.



ABOUT THE ROLE

The role of a general maintenance operative is to effectively implement the duties of repair and maintenance of the building in and around cheddar gorge, which includes an element of land based duties.

You will ensure that all work undertaken is within relevant legislation, guidelines and code of practice, and that all procedures are adhered to. You will be responsible for maintenance across the unique range of buildings, fixed equipment and service repairs and new projects to the highest standards to an agreed timescale and budget.

ABOUT YOU

The ideal candidate will have a recognised trade qualification, such as City & Guilds or NVQ Level 2 or higher and substantial experience in multi-trade hands on experience. You will also hold a full UK Driving licence.

Relevant Health & Safety Qualification, IPAF, PASMA and CSCS Card all desirable qualifications that the ideal candidate will hold as well as the ability to use agricultural machinery.

You will be able to co-ordinate works and manage external contractors as well as excellent interpersonal skills to be able to organise and manage time to tight deadlines where required.

 

 

HOURS OF WORK

 

This is a 12 month fixed term contract working 40 hours per week, 5 out of 7 days including weekends and bank holidays. You will also be required to be on call to assist with any emergencies that may arise.
