Description

Longleat can offer you some of the most beautiful outdoor spaces in the UK to work in, a mixture of public and private gardens. Though Longleat may be best known for its Capability Brown landscape, it also has a rich tradition of more formal gardens from the romantic Love Labyrinth, the Secret Garden designed by Russell Page and some of the newer additions like the Sun Maze and Lunar Labyrinth, to the charming Peacock Garden which boasts some truly impressive topiary.

 

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a skilled horticulturalist you will assist the day to day management and development of the gardens which is vital as our guests tell us how much the well-kept gardens add to the enjoyment of their visit to Longleat.

This role will include a range of practical horticultural tasks to maintain, develop, and enhance the gardens. You'll be helping with hard and soft landscaping and general maintenance of the gardens, such as mulching, pruning, leaf clearing and weeding. You’ll the planting and maintaining of trees, shrubs, herbaceous plants cut the many hedges and mow our fine lawns and all the time ensuring the highest standards of horticulture and guest engagement

 

ABOUT YOU

You will have a passion for plants, an interest in historic gardens and most definitely a desire to deliver an outstanding experience in the gardens for our guests. You will have significant practical experience in horticulture along with a relevant qualification. Well motivated with an eye for detail and a desire to achieve high standards you will have a willingness to work alongside and support others but also having the ability to work on your own iniative.

 

HOURS OF WORK

This role is available on a permanent basis, working 39 hours per week over 5 days including weekends and bank holidays. Start and finish times will vary in accordance with opening times. We are offering a salary of #17,000 to #20,000 dependent on experience.
