Gardener / Horticulturalist – Fixed term contract until January 2020

What will this role of Gardener / Horticulturalist entail?  

Working as a member of the Grounds and Gardens team, as a Gardener / Horticulturalist you’ll make sure the Park is presented to our visitors in a pristine condition throughout the year. You will carry out all aspects of gardening, grounds maintenance and other horticultural work including grass mowing, hedge trimming, bedding maintenance and leaf and litter clearance duties.

You’ll also be involved in renovation work and replacing damaged areas of turf as well as operating and maintaining machinery and equipment.

What will I need to be considered for this Gardener / Horticulturalist vacancy?
  • Proven experience as a professional gardener / horticulturalist, with good knowledge of plants, gardening practices and garden machinery
  • Hold an NVQ Level 1 / 2 in Amenity Horticulture
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational and time management skills
Although not essential, the following would be highly advantageous for this role:
  • Previous experience of working in historic gardens and grounds
  • Hold a PA1 PA 6A Pesticides certificate
  • Experience of working with COSHH

Contract: Fixed term until 5th January 2020, working within the core hours of 7am and 8pm. Due to the nature of the business, you will be required to work weekends and bank holidays.
