Cheddar Gorge and Caves (part of the Longleat Enterprises group) is a world-famous site set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is one of Britain's most spectacular natural landmarks. From its awe-inspiring cliffs to its extraordinary subterranean stalactite show caves, Cheddar Gorge & Caves holds many fascinating secrets about our prehistoric ancestors and is an international centre for caving and rock climbing. At 400ft deep and 3 miles long, England’s largest gorge with its spectacular pinnacles and beautiful caves (one is over 500,000 years old!) offer visitors an exciting day out all year round.

What will this role of Operational Supervisor entail?
As the Operational Supervisor, you will be a key member of the management team taking a hands-on approach to overseeing the day to day operations of one of the UK’s most iconic destinations. You’ll use your enthusiasm and drive to ensure the smooth running of our caves, cliff top walk, museum, and lookout tower through the supervision and management of staff, buildings and contractors.
This is an exciting, dynamic and varied role which will see you working closely alongside the Operations Manager on large projects and events where you will be required to make decisions and reactively respond to situations as they present themselves, whilst ensuring that guests and staff have a safe and memorable experience.
What will I need to be considered for this Operational Supervisor vacancy?
- Proven experience as a supervisor or duty manager within the leisure / visitor attraction industry
- First aid qualification with good knowledge of Health Safety and Environmental processes
- Self-motivated with excellent customer service skills
- Great people management, communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines
- IT literate, with good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Full UK driving licence

Salary: 18,000 (GBP) to 20,000 (GBP) per annum, level dependent on experience

Contract Type: Permanent
Hours of Work: 40 hours a week working 5 days out of 7 including weekends and bank holidays. Start and finish times will vary in accordance with opening times.
