Despite our established reputation, we constantly strive to educate, excite and inspire guests – from hosting the UK’s largest ever hot air balloon gathering, to celebrating our Festival of Light; the first and biggest event of its kind in the UK, with a total of 3,000 spectacular Chinese lanterns transforming the Estate.

What will this role of Gardener / Horticulturalist entail?

Working as a member of the Grounds and Gardens team, as a Gardener / Horticulturalist you’ll make sure the Park is presented to our visitors in a pristine condition throughout the year.

You’ll take responsibility for the grounds and parkland, in particular the trees and shrubs in the formal gardens. You’ll be available to attend out of hours call outs and will ensure that during unpleasantly cold or wet weather, Longleat roads are gritted and snow cleared wherever possible before the site opens for business.

What will I need to be considered for this Gardener / Horticulturalist vacancy?
  • Proven experience as a professional gardener / horticulturalist, with good knowledge of plants and the maintenance of lawns
  • Hold a PA1 PA 6A Pesticides certificate
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Strong attention to detail
Although not essential, previous experience of working in historic gardens and grounds would be advantageous.

What will I receive in return?

As a Gardener / Horticulturalist you will receive hourly pay rate of up to (GBP) 9.00 (equivalent to (GBP) 18,252 per annum), level dependent on experience, in addition to a range of attractive benefits that include; 29 days holiday inclusive of bank holidays, complimentary tickets to Longleat and Cheddar Gorge and Caves, discounts on food and beverages and retail merchandise, along with life assurance cover and more perks.

You’ll be employed on a permanent contract, working 39 hours per week within the core hours of 7am and 8pm. Due to the nature of the business, you will be required to work weekends and bank holidays.

Location: Longleat (Warminster, Wiltshire)
