Description

Longleat Estate consists of 3,600 hectares of woodland, parkland, agricultural land and property. The Forestry department has an excellent standing within industry and has been pioneering continuous cover forestry in the UK for over 40 years and runs a successful forestry business.


ABOUT THE ROLE

 

The role of a Forester is to carry out a full range of practical tasks associated with commercial forestry, traditional woodland operations, a firewood production business and other traditional landed estate husbandry tasks.

The role is also responsible in carrying out practical forestry and firewood tasks both in the Forest and in the wood yard.

The role will also include mechanical tasks associated with firewood production including Christmas trees from harvest to point of sale.

ABOUT YOU

The ideal candidate will have a full understanding of the commercial and traditional forestry and woodland operational calendar. A good foundation knowledge of silviculture and a broad range of consolidated industry specific practical skill s would be preferred. The ideal candidate will also have relevant qualifications such as NPTC Chainsaw Certificate and chemical applications, Forklift Truck licence and health & Safety such as COSHH alongside a proven understanding of health and safety.


You must have good communications skills and be able to organise your own workload, with good organisational and time management skills.


HOURS OF WORK


This is a full-time permanent position working 39 hours per week, predominantly Monday to Friday. However, due to the nature of the business you will be flexible and able to work weekends and bank holiday as required.
